John Walter Williams, son of the late Walter Williams and the late Lillie Mae Wakefield Williams was born September 4, 1947, in Calhoun County, Georgia. He peacefully departed this life at Flowers Hospital, Dothan, Alabama on June 25, 2023, at the age of 75.
John was educated in Calhoun County Public Schools and a graduate of H.T. Singleton High School, Class of 1967. An all-around student, John flourished in the Barbering course under the leadership of instructor, Chief Miller, where John developed a love for cutting hair. Throughout life, John was a barber to his brothers and friends. After high school, John went to vocational rehabilitation at Warm Spring, Georgia, where he learned the trade of printing technology. At an early age, John dedicated his life to the Lord and became a member of the New Point Missionary Baptist Church, in Arlington, Georgia.
John's first job was at Moore's Printing in Blakely, Georgia, where he worked as a printing apprentice. In 1973, John moved to Newark, New Jersey, where he resided for almost 10 years. In New Jersey, he was employed at Signal Stat Plastic Company. In the early 1980's, John returned to Georgia, where he had a good life before his health declined.
In 2008, John became a resident at Calhoun Memorial Nursing Home. John had a kind heart, making it easy for people to love him. He will truly be missed by friends, family, and loved ones.
John was preceded in death by his father, Walter Williams, mother Lillie Mae Wakefield Williams, brother, Sammie D. Williams, aunts, Mamie Wakefield Lee and Mary Lou Wakefield, and cherished cousin, Joseph Lee.
John leaves to cherish his memories: Brothers: Joseph James (Betty) Williams, Sr., Macon, Georgia and Charlie James (Shirley) Williams, Arlington, Georgia; Sister: Lil (Lillie) Hall, Piscataway, New Jersey; Nieces: Felicia (Stanley) Shephard, Colquitt, Georgia and Lakeshia Williams, Macon, Georgia; Nephews: Joseph (Claretha) Williams, Jr., Albany, Georgia, Joseph Jamaal Williams, Macon, Georgia, Charlie James Williams, Jr., Arlington, Georgia, and Brian Jerrod (Marche) Williams, Kennesaw, Georgia. Cousin/Friend: Donnie Bouie. John will be fondly remembered by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, relatives, and a community of friends, too numerous to name, but too special to be forgotten.
